Kansas City Chiefs‘ superstar QB Patrick Mahomes‘ brother, Jackson Mahomes had a troubled 2023. He was charged with three felony aggravated sexual battery charges along with a misdemeanor battery charge. According to FOX 4 KC, the later charge might end up going to trial. The first three charges, however, were dropped by the judge at the Johnson County courtroom.
The prosecution contended that the accused victim would testify in court, even if immunity was granted, that she had lied to the police and that her encounter with the TikTok star in 2023 was voluntary.
Mahomes was the focus of an investigation in February after it was claimed that he had shoved a waiter and kissed the female owner of a restaurant in Overland Park. Aspen Vaughn, the restaurant’s owner, claimed to The Kansas City Star that Mahomes forced her to kiss him at least twice by grabbing her by the throat.
Jackson Mahomes’ attorney, Brandon Davies, spoke about the ruling on Wednesday. He told FOX 4 KC:
Like I said from the beginning, Jackson has done nothing wrong. We had full confidence that the truth of the matter would ultimately be revealed. The defense will reserve further comment until the remaining count is disposed of.Brandon Davies told FOX 4 KC
The prosecution “were prepared to proceed with the case because victims recant or become uncooperative for a host of reasons and that does not mean that the original account to law enforcement was inaccurate,” according to a statement written by Assistant District Attorney Megan Ahsens, which The Kansas City Star reported.
