“Spoiled, entitled, and clickbait media,” Kevin Durant denounces the media harshly amid reporters’ hounding Giovani Bernard after Patriots loss
KEVIN DURANT
NBA star Kevin Durant showed support for Giovani Bernard, who was harassed by reporters in the locker room after the Buccaneers lost against the Bengals on Sunday.
The Bucs were leading 17-3 early in the second half when Todd Bowles called for a questionable fake punt. Giovani Bernard was supposed to take the snap and run for the first down, but he missed the ball completely. He looked like he had no idea about the fake. The botched punt resulted in a short yardage drive for the Bengals offense who managed to score a field of that.
After the game, Giovani Bernard attempted to leave the locker room without answering reporters’ questions before starting answering questions. A reporter posted a video of this altercation on Twitter, which has caused massive outrage among NFL fans. Many of them condemned the reporters for being rude and disrespectful.
Even NBA player Kevin Durant came forward to show support for Bernard. Quoting on the reporter’s tweet, Durant wrote, “Giovani handled this like a true pro.” KD’s tweet got mixed reactions from the fans. One user replied that reporters are so full of themselves, to which KD responded, “Entitlement in this world has gone to another level.” He also gave his staunch stance in the same tweet that the media believes they are responsible for the popularity of the game.
Further, one user questioned KD in a tweet asking where would professional sports be without the media. To this, the NBA superstar didn’t hold back his thoughts when answered. He called out the media for being spoiled and entitled while claiming sports would be fine without them. He did acknowledge that there are some good people who simply love to cover the sport.
On the Business side of things, the Bucs will be focusing on the Arizona Cardinals, who they will be facing this weekend. The 6-8 Bucs are still the favorites to win the NFC South division.
Twitter reacts to the Giovani Bernard incident
While a reporter tried to antagonize Bernard for ducking interview questions, the fans have overwhelmingly shown love and support to the Bucs’ running back. Fans also called out the reporter for being rude and disrespectful.
Along with the fans, some athletes also came forward to show support for him. The reporter, however, doubled down on their stance and told people that they were just doing their job, which warranted even more hate replies.
While it’s true that Giovani Bernard attempted to leave first before answering questions, he then decided to answer the reporters’ question about the botched punt. The RB told the reporter that it was a miscommunication on his part and took full responsibility for that mistake.
As far as the Bucs, they are still at the top of the NFC South division with a 6-8 record. They have now two games in a row but they still control their own destiny when it comes to the playoffs. Bucs just have to win their last two regular-season games against the Panthers and Falcons to reach the playoffs as the NFC South division winners.
