Last weekend, the Minnesota Vikings, led by their new quarterback Josh Dobbs, managed to secure an impressive victory against the New Orleans Saints. During the game, an impressive rushing play by the Vikings QB Dobbs left his head coach Kevin O’Connell speechless and scratching his head.
During the second quarter of the game, the Vikings had a 7-point lead and were facing a crucial 3rd down and 6 from the Saints’ 7-yard line. In a clip shared by NFL on X, Minnesota’s head coach Kevin O’Connell could be seen sending a playcall and telling Dobbs to use his legs if he saw an opportunity.
If it presents itself, you go ahead and take it. Okay?O’Connell
On the field, Dobbs received the snap from the shotgun position and was scanning the field for an open pass catcher. Soon, his pocket collapsed, forcing the dual-threat quarterback to take off with the rock. He turned to the left and scrambled past the Saints defenders for a Vikings touchdown.
While Dobbs was scrambling for his life, O’Connell could be seen holding his breath, and when Dobbs eventually scored, Kevin O’Connell breathed a sigh of relief and scratched his head. The Vikings head coach was left speechless after seeing the impressive rushing TD by his quarterback. Check out the footage of the play and O’Connell’s reaction attached below.
Dobbs, who joined the Minnesota-based football team just a couple of weeks ago, has already had a couple of impressive outings with his new team. As a result, the Vikings managed to win both of those games, including the one against the Saints on Sunday.
Kevin O’Connell says Josh Dobbs was outstanding on Sunday
On the back of a remarkable outing from Josh Dobbs, the Vikings managed to bash the Saints on Sunday. Following the game, the Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell heaped high praise on his new quarterback.
I thought it was a pretty outstanding day from Josh and the best thing about it is we’re all still getting to know each other and getting a comfort level where we can continue to apply layers to this thing to try to be as successful as we can be on offenseConnell told ESPN
With the impressive victory against the Saints, the Vikings improved to a solid 6-4 record after starting the season with 3 consecutive losses and they are doing this without their star players Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson. Next, they are scheduled to face the Denver Broncos in their week 11 game this Sunday.
