The New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers were supposed to have a great 2023 season together. After signing Rodgers in this year’s offseason, the Jets were expected to make a deep playoff run and, maybe, even a Super Bowl run. It all came crashing down however as Rodgers suffered an Achilles tear to on the first drive of the Jets’ season, ruling him out for the entire season.
The Jets pulled off an impressive victory over the Buffalo Bills but the entire football is focused on Aaron Rodgers. There are rumors of him retiring from football altogether as he is almost 40 years old dealing with a devastating injury. Fox Sports analyst and former NFL player Keyshawn Johnson, however, doesn’t think so. He believes that Rodgers will be back playing football.
“He’ll be back. It’s unfinished business” Johnson said on the Undisputed show. Rodgers took to Instagram and uploaded a post with a long caption thanking everyone for support. At the end of the caption he wrote “I shall rise yet again” suggesting a return to the sport once his injury heals.
Johnson further continued saying, “You look at his caption, you look at what he said, ‘he’ll rise yet again’. Of course! It’s unfinished business. Star athletes, they don’t end like this. They may end losing a playoff game waving off to the crowd as they walk through the tunnel, shed tears at the press conference. They may do that. They don’t leave with an injury with gas left in the tank.” He concluded by saying “He’s coming back stronger than ever.”
After spending 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers signed with the Jets at the beginning of the 2023 offseason. There was a lot of hype around the Jets and Rodgers with HBO show Hard Knocks filming them during the training camp. This injury is a devastating blow to the Jets and their fanbase and there was genuine excitement around the team this season. Will Rodgers come back? Only time will tell.
