Kirk Cousins, the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, is attempting to get back to playing football at the earliest. After sustaining a horrifying Achilles injury towards the middle of the 2023-24 NFL season, a tragedy that eventually hurt the team’s odds of making it to the playoffs, the QB has been spending as much time as he can with his family.

In a recent video posted going viral on social media, the quarterback was seen wrestling with his kids. His wife posted the video and Kirk Cousins’ sons, Turner and Cooper, were attempting to bring him down. While one of them literally jumped back onto his back to piggyback ride him, the other was attempting to get up there, but in a cautious manner.

His son could not help but ask, “Which one’s your Achilles?” before stepping onto his legs. He had to be careful to ensure that family fun time did not eventually lead to his recovery being impacted.

It was a heartwarming moment to watch. It serves as a mental breather for the quarterback, who was distraught by this unforeseen injury as it came at a time when he was on a hot streak.

The quarterback had thrown for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions in 8 games. He had a passer rating of 103 which is amazing.

To see him go down at such a point was frustrating for the fans of the team and himself. He has established himself to be one of the most reliable quarterbacks in this league. Cousins is seldom sitting out games and does his best to ensure that his body is ready to play every week.

His commitment and work ethic were on display in Netflix’s Quarterback series, which followed him around for an entire season and documented his journey and mindset in the league. This offseason will be pivotal to the quarterback as he is required to make a contractual decision. He has the option to enter free agency or re-sign with the Vikings.

Despite having proven himself to be a reliable option, the Vikings are reluctant to offer Cousins a big contract with guaranteed sums. His recent injury could have something to do with it and considering that he is 35, does not help make his case.

Could other teams in the NFL decide to take advantage of this situation and swoop in to sign Cousins? It is a possibility, that there are teams in dire need of veterans, take the New England Patriots for instance. A lot of decisions to be made for the quarterback as this offseason will be pivotal for him.
