The Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins set the atmosphere ablaze on Sunday Night Football. Ahead of the game against the Green Bay Packers, the quarterback set the stadium and the fans on fire with a shirtless celebration. From the stands, the quarterback was spotted clapping in the SKOL chant. It was a home game against the Packers, and the quarterback encouraged his team to the best of his ability.
However, his motivation did not have a lasting impact, as the Minnesota Vikings had a poor time on the field. They suffered a blowout loss against the Packers. They lost the game 33-10. With another loss, the Vikings moved on to a 7-9 losing record. Their hopes for the postseason are over, while the Packers still have some hopes left for the playoffs. They currently stand at an 8-8 record.
Jordan Love performed well yet again. The quarterback stepped into the shoes of Aaron Rodgers this season. He performed well as a starter in his first season. The QB registered three touchdowns for 256 yards against the Vikings, taking his total tally to 30 touchdowns. Only Dak Prescott and Brock Purdy have more touchdowns this season.
The Vikings suffered a quarterback problem this season. After Kirk Cousins was ruled out, the team tried their luck with Josh Dobbs. Dobbs had a few good games, but his stint ended after a few bad games against the likes of the Bears and the Raiders. The team then tried with Nick Mullens. Mullens has not fared well either.
When will Kirk Cousins return?
On October 29, Kirk Cousins suffered a major Achilles injury. The incident also took place against the Green Bay Packers. He was ruled out of the rest of the season. He became the second quarterback to be ruled out due to an Achilles injury. Aaron Rodgers was the first one to suffer a major injury.
As things stand now, the QB might return at the beginning of the 2024-25 season. Citing Jordan Schultz, who is a Bleacher Report Insider, said in a report that both Cousins and the Vikings made a contract for the latter to return early in 2024.
This is what Jordan Schultz said:
Given what's transpired now with Cousins, both he and the Vikings are much more receptive to a return in 2024. That could potentially mean a one-year contract, I'm told.Jordan Schultz via Sports Illustrated
Only time will tell if Cousins returns to the Vikings for the next season. With superstar talent like Justin Jefferson on the team, the Vikings cannot afford a rebuild and must do whatever they can to win the Super Bowl.
