“Hadn’t watched it in a while,” 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan FORCEFULLY rewatches traumatic Super Bowl LIV defeat ahead of Chiefs tie

The San Francisco 49ers have started the 2022/23 NFL season on a decent note, and are currently topping the NFC West division. They have a 3-3 record this season and will face up against one of their rivals from the AFC West with whom they have a huge rivalry.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan hasn’t yet forgotten about the time when his franchise came up against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl LIV fixture in 2019.

The Chiefs secured a convincing 31-20 victory against the 49ers, the closest head coach Kyle Shanahan has come to winning a Super Bowl in his six years of coaching career.

Ahead of the epic showdown, Shanahan once again remembered how his team threw away a 10-point lead with only 7 minutes on the clock. The defeat has to be one of the most heartbreaking that he has had to endure along with his franchise in recent times.

Kyle Shanahan was asked about how he felt going into the upcoming clash and if he had rewatched the Super Bowl LIV tie again to strategize for this week.

“I hadn’t watched it for a while until these last two days, but yeah, I don’t like watching it, but this week it wasn’t about that,” Shanahan said according to ProFootballTalk. “I had to watch it for schematic reasons and what our history is together.”

“I love thinking of our team that year,” he said. “I felt like that year we had the best team in football, but we ended up being the second best because we didn’t get it done in the end.”
