The Baltimore Ravens played against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football. When the quarterback Lamar Jackson sustained an injury in the first quarterback on Thursday night, it seemed like the end. The sequence came after Lamar Jackson received a tackle from Cincinnati Bengals‘ linebacker Logan Wilson in Week 11. Jackson had to seek medical help shortly after the hit.
But the one thing is, this scare amidst the playoff race was brief for the Ravens. Soon, the doctors cleared him from the blue medical tent. The star quarterback returned to the field and led his team to a dazzling win with his signature performance.
The Ravens won the game by 34-20, and Jackson completed 16 out of his 26 passes for 264 yards. He ended the game with two touchdowns and rushed for 54 yards on nine carries. At the post-game press conference, the media asked Jackson for an update on his status.
The quarterback assured that after wearing heating pads, the injury toned down. Jackson also assured that he felt good during the press conference. He even joked with the media following the question. This is what he said:
We need to stop talking about this ankle…I'm good. We're not going to talk none of it into existence.Lamar Jackson via post-game press conference.
In the past two years, the 2019 NFL Most Valuable Player had to miss 11 games, including the wild-card round of Ravens last season against the Bengals. Since then, Jackson hasn’t missed any games throughout this season. He has emerged again as one of the top quarterbacks in the league. He has led his team to the standing of 8-3, aiming for the AFC North title, since 2019.
How did Lamar Jackson get injured on Thursday?
Ravens’ QB met his first injury late in the first quarter when he sprinted away from the third-and-pressure from this team’s 37-yard line. As he threw an underhand pass, it was tackled out of bounds by the Bengals linebacker, and the pass went incomplete.
He was down on the right sideline for some time before the professionals came to him. They took him to the bench shortly after. Jackson then went into the medical tent, where he was cleared to return quickly.
Oddly, Jackson didn’t just scare the Ravens in the first quarter. He also slipped many times on the stadium grass and fell down twice, even when he wasn’t even hit by any defender.
Despite those incidents, Jackson didn’t lose his flow and showed some of his trademark breakouts by throwing an incomplete pass to rookie Zay Flowers after sprinting for 10.71 seconds in the third quarterback.
