Jackson doesn’t have an agent and his representing himself in the negotiations and so with the season opener not too far away Jackson might want to put the contract talks behind so he can focus solely on the game. Probably that’s why Jackson has set a deadline for the contract talks which is a indicator for the Ravens to expedite the process as they have made it clear that they want Jackson in Baltimore for a long item.

Jackson when asked whether there was a hard deadline for the negations responded- “Yeah, we coming up to it. It’s coming up. Season’s coming up. We’re going to be good for the season.” He also added that he had “no updates” regarding the status of the talks.
Asked if it’s fair to say Week 1 is a hard deadline, Jackson responded, “Yeah, for sure.” Jackson will become a free agent in March, if he and the Ravens can’t reach an agreement and many teams around the league would be interested to sign him.
The Baltimore-based franchise will face New York Jets in their season opener on September 11. A lot of things have been said about Lamar by various experts and fans but no one can deny that his presence is pivotal to the franchise. The Ravens fans would be desperately hoping for a deal to go through without much hassle.
