Christmas came early for the fans of the Las Vegas Raiders this year! After a horrendous showing by the team 8 games into the 2023-24 season, out of which they have managed to win just 3 games by close margins. Mark Davis has finally dropped the hammer on the coaching staff and shown the door for Head Coach Josh McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler.

While it is common knowledge that Josh McDaniels‘ job was on the line, nobody anticipated that the owner would fire him halfway into the season. The anticipation was that the Raiders would be done with him after the completion of this season. Davis did not just stop with the two most vital members of his organization, just hours later, he fired offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi for the sorry state of the Raiders offense this season.

Mick Lombardi was the assistant quarterbacks coach and wide receivers coach for the New England Patriots. Albert Breer reported this news first and as per Ian Rapoport, Bo Hardegree will now take over the job of the Raiders OC. While McDaniels was still the primary play-caller as offense is his strong suit, Lombardi was responsible for coaching the offense and executing the playbook.

The Las Vegas Raiders rank 31st in the NFL in terms of total offense

The Raiders have not been up to the mark this season. The team decided to part ways with Derek Carr and bring in Jimmy Garoppolo. He has failed to make a mark on the team’s offense and despite having one of the best wideouts in the NFL in Davante Adams, the Raiders offense ranks 31st in scoring this season.

Raiders fans are happy about this change, the team’s performance has been nothing short of disappointing so far and the offense is just dismal. Jimmy G leads the NFL in interceptions with 9 so far, not to mention the over/underthrows that fans are subjected to watch while the team is playing because he has not been able to develop chemistry with his receivers.

Here’s how fans reacted to the news of the Raiders firing the key members of their front office and coaching staff. It does appear that the team is looking to start afresh as it cleans the whole house.

Tell em’ to bring out the broom…

Jimmy is safe, for now.

They really should, it is about time…

Mark Davis has won Halloween. He really has the entire Raiders staff and players sitting in fear of losing their jobs.

If Jimmy G were to get fired, the Raiders need to make sure Tom Brady is the one doing the firing, that would be iconic.

Just because you have the name does not mean you have the skills and knowledge as well…

It’s about time the Raiders made a drastic move such as this. There is no justification for a team that has Davante Adams on offense to not be using his skillset to their advantage.

It has not been the same for the team since the departure of Jon Gruden, the position that Mark Davis is in right now, he probably does wish that he can bring him back. For now, the Raiders have appointed Antonio Pierce as the team’s interim HC.
