LeBron James creates history!
The 4x NBA Champion broke legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar‘s record of all-time leading scorer in the league which stood for almost 40 years and seemed impossible to break. During the Los Angeles Lakers game against the OKC Thunder at Crypto.com Arena, King James made a beautiful and now iconic fadeaway on Kenrich Williams and took his 20-year career points to 38,388.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar became the record holder in 1984 when he passed Wilt Chamberlain, who had a total tally of 31,419 points in his fourteen-year stint in the NBA. Abdul-Jabbar then went on to pile on more points until his retirement in 1989, at which point it seemed that the record will never be broken. Legends like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant couldn’t achieve this herculean task, but King James did it and, oh, he did it so gracefully. Maybe it’s time to end the GOAT debate!
Shannon Sharpe has always contented LeBron James to be the GOAT
Tuesday night was a star-studded event at Crypto.com Arena as celebrities were present to see the historic moment when LeBron James finally breaks the long-held record in the NBA. The courtside saw superstars like Jay-Z, Floyd Mayweather, Bad Bunny, and Denzel Washington cheering on King James on the verge of making history.
Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe was also present courtside, hyping up his best friend. James and Sharpe are known to have a great bond and are very close to each other. The 3x Super Bowl champion is a vocal advocate of King James on his show Undisputed as his co-host Skip Bayless, more often than not targets the NBA icon.
After scoring the point that made him the new record holder of the NBA’s all-time scorer, LeBron James went on to hug Shannon Sharpe, and the two exchanged a few words. Sharpe was heard saying, “You saved me a lot of money. I was coming back Thursday.” Sharpe had calculated by his estimates that James will break Abdul-Jabbar’s record in the home clash against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday, Feb 9. It’s a good thing that Sharpe did not miss this game or he would’ve ended up cursing himself on national television for sure.
While it was a great night for James, the Lakers went home with yet another loss. The OKC Thunders won the matchup 133-130, and the Lakers lost their 30th game of the season. The season is nearing its end and the Lakers now have to win the rest of their matches if they want to play in the postseason.
