LeBron James just put the Pittsburgh Steelers on a poster. Following the Los Angeles Lakers’ 120-101 blowout loss to the Orlando Magic, the NBA star stated that the situation his team is in right now is eerily similar to that of Mike Tomlin and the Steelers.
In his post-game press conference, LeBron James compared the two teams. He said:
We're like the Pittsburgh Steelers right now. The Pittsburgh Steelers right now have not out-gained or out-scored any of their opponents in this season right now and yet they've got a winning record.
King James just complimented the Steelers but at what cost?
Pittsburgh is 5-3 so far this season; the biggest margin they’ve had in a victory is by 7 points in their matchup against the Baltimore Ravens and the Los Angeles Rams. The team has struggled offensively, as they rank 25th in the NFL in passing yards with an average of 188 yards per game, 24th in the league in rushing yards with an average of 90.5 yards per game, and in terms of total offense, they rank 28th in the league.
LeBron James’ Lakers and the Pittsburgh Steelers have not found their groove on offense this season
Despite their lackluster offense, Mike Tomlin and the Steelers have held their own and managed to maintain a respectable 5-3 record. LeBron believes that the 3-3 Lakers are similar to Pittsburgh, as the team has struggled to score offensively.
The Lakers were outscored in the first three quarters of the game against the Magic but in the final quarter, they put up 21 as opposed to Orlando’s 19.
The Steelers start off slow in their games, just like the Lakers but as the game goes on, the football team finds ways to score just enough points to beat their opponents. Considering that Kenny Pickett ranks 29th in the NFL in terms of QBR and has 6 TDs and 4 INTs so far. But irrespective of that, the Steelers have managed to win games.
LeBron James and the Lakers are struggling to score this season. Despite the four-time NBA champion averaging 24.5 points in year 21 and Anthony Davis leading the team in points with 26.3 ppg, they have not received adequate support from the rest of their squad. James has been actively weighing in on NFL games this year, as he has made it a weekly event to make predictions on which teams will win on Sunday.
An interesting trend is that whenever LeBron James has been picked against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team has managed to win all those games. Maybe the LeBron curse is the new thing after the infamous Drake curse.
