“That’s not on Mac Jones,” NFL Legend Michael Irvin BLASTS Patriots HC Bill Belichick for QB’s ongoing struggle this season

The New England Patriots are struggling horribly this season, as they currently sit fourth in the AFC East division with a 5-4 record. Quarterback Mac Jones has copped heavy criticism ever since the preseason started, failing to lead the offense.
NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin has piled on the misery on the young quarterback and head coach Bill Belichick for the Patriots’ recent slump. The former Cowboys receiver reacted to a recent video analysis made by Dan Orlovsky depicting the Patriots’ struggle in the offense.
In the video, Orlovsky depicted how the Patriots’ receivers weren’t allowing Mac Jones to make proper throws in the recent games.
Michael Irvin blamed Bill Belichick for Mac Jones’ failure this season
“That blows my mind. You know how they say basics is 101? This is before the 101,” Irvin said on WEEI’s “Gresh and Keefe.” “This is not English 101 or Math 101. Timing up routes with depth of routes and depth of drops, that’s even before 101. It’s that basic.”
“To see [Orlovsky] call that out on some plays, where [Jones] had a three-step drop, he hitched one time and nobody is ready to come out of a route, there’s no timing — that blows my mind, man. That doesn’t look like anything that Bill Belichick has let go on.”
Irvin, however, blasted Bill Belichick for not being able to help Mac Jones and the offensive plays they have made in recent games.
“When you talk about Mac Jones’ regression, that’s not on Mac Jones. You see what I’m saying?” Irvin continued. “You’re seeing the results and it looks like a regression. That is impossible. That’s on somebody else in there, whoever is designing those [plays].”
Michael Irvin also questioned Belichick’s decision to hand Matt Patricia the offensive reigns ahead of the season claiming that he’s never questioned the veteran coach before. The Patriots will be up against the New York Jets and are in desperate need of a victory to come out of their slump.
