Former Chiefs Hall of Famer QB and reputed broadcaster Len Dawson tragically passes away at the age of 87

Len Dawson the Pro Football Hall of Fame Quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs died at age 87. Dawson was the quarterback for the Chiefs from 1962 to 1975 which led the Chiefs to their first-ever Super Bowl win at Super Bowl IV, a game where he was also declared the MVP. Dawson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987.
Dawson was not only a hall-of-fame quarterback but also a great broadcaster. Dawson played College Bowl at Purdue University and was drafted with the 5th pick in the 1st round of the 1957 NFL draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. After laying 2 seasons for the Steelers, Dawson spent 1 season for Cleveland Browns until finding a permanent NFL home with the Chiefs who were then the Dallas Texans.

Dawson was part of the Texans when they moved to Kansas City and renamed the Kansas City Chiefs. Not only did Dawson win the Super Bowl MVP but was also won the AFL MVP in 1962 when he led the then Texans to their first of 3 AFL championships. Dawson also had the distinction to play in the first Super Bowl where he and his team lost to the Green Bay Packers. Dawson retired from the NFL in 1975 at age 40. Dawson is still the franchise’s all-time leader in passing yards, touchdown passes, completions and attempts.
Dawson was not only a Pro Football Hall of Famer but also enshrined in the Chiefs Hall of Fame and Purdue Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame.
