Former Jackson State head coach, Deion Sanders, is an extremely popular man in the college football arena. The Hall of Fame quarterback had an incredibly successful reign as the Jackson State head coach, and has taken up a new role this season.
Sanders was appointed as the head coach for the Colorado Buffaloes last year, and is heavily involved in bringing up fresh talent for the NFL, later in their careers.
The 55-year-old recently made an appearance on the Black Millionaire show and made a hugely controversial comment on the type of players that head coaches focus on before choosing the eventual names for their franchises.
In a startling turn of events, Sanders turned the conversation about how players are selected on the basis of who they have as parents. The Hall of Famer cornerback claimed that they choose quarterbacks on the fact that he has both his parents and has a high GPA Score. Deion Sanders’ girlfriend is Tracey Edmonds and the legendary coach has been married twice.

Deion Sanders made a controversial remark on the recruitment process

“Well, we have different attributes. Smart, tough, fast, disciplined with character. Now, quarterbacks are different,” Sanders told Eisen last week. “We want mother, father. Dual parent. We want that kid to be 3.5 [GPA] and up. Because he has to be smart. Not bad decisions off the field, at all. Because he has to be a leader of men.
Sanders further went onto champion his cause of choosing players, by claiming that purchasing a defensive lineman was diametrically opposite to that of a quarterback despite the fact that both have a high level of impact on the game.
“Defensive linemen is totally opposite. Single mama, trying to get it, he’s on free lunch,” Sanders continued. “I’m talking about just trying to make it. He’s trying to rescue mama. Like mama barely made the flight. And I want him to just go get it. “
Since Sanders made these comments, he has received a huge amount of flak from the internet. Many have raised the point that if the same guidelines were applied by a “White” head coach, things would be perceived completely differently, given the league’s age old rivalry with racism.
Former NFL defensive end turned analyst, Marcus Spears took to his official Twitter account to slam the former Jackson State head coach. Spears shared the video footage of Sanders saying incriminating things on Twitter with the caption, “This sh*t ain’t funny.”
