A few months ago, young punter Matt Araiza was tried and tested in front of the media. The 22-year-old was one of the most hated personalities in the league. His career also came to a halt due to the gang r*pe accusations levied upon him.

Araiza was alleged to have committed gang rape of a minor while in the company of his two SDSU teammates. The alleged incident occurred when the punter was still at San Diego University. The former Buffalo Bills punter was immediately released by the team without further inspection.

Months have passed since the allegation, and now the prosecutors have decided not to file any charges against Araiza upon further investigation. According to a recently released transcript between the prosecutors and the defendants, the 22-year-old punter was not present where the alleged gang r*pe occurred. Therefore, he is free from any criminal charges.

According to the investigation, Matt Araiza couldn’t have led the girl into the room where the alleged rape occurred. It is believed that the incident occurred late in the night. However, Araiza left home at 12:30 am, that’s an hour before the gruesome incident took place. Araiza’s parents were devastated throughout the proceedings and believe that the media have tried and convicted Araiza without waiting for a court of law.

The Bills waited for some time before releasing the young NFL punter as Matt Araiza’s story somewhat convinced them. However, as soon as the media storm set in, the team released the punter.

Still, Matt Araiza has maintained his innocence throughout the tough ordeal, and upon further investigations, there were many witnesses who came forward affirming the 22-year-old’s claims.

The District Attorney has completely sided with Araiza and believes there are no relevant charges to be placed as Araiza was never present during the encounter. The team also find various videos and pictures of the party that confirmed their claims.

Although Matt Araiza has been proven innocent, his career in the NFL is already tarnished, and there is a very low chance of him getting called up by his old team. Until then, the punter will have to try for another shot in the league and hope for a team to pick him up, giving him a new start. Araiza had an incredible college career and was even nicknamed the ‘punt god.’ However, he won’t be able to replicate the same in the NFL.
