“Reality is often disappointing,” the famous line from the MCU’s supervilllain Thanos, comes to mind as Matthew Judon can’t seem to apprehend that DeAndre Hopkins won’t be joining the New England Patriots. After months of playing cat and mouse with various franchises, D-Hop looks set to finally settle down in the Music City. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport confirmed DeAndre Hopkins will be finalizing his deal with the Tennessee Titans within a few days. The rumored deal will be for two years, in the range of $26 million and $32 million.

While the Titans’ fandom is celebrating the announcement of an elite-level receiver signing for their team, few are left shocked and flabbergasted. None more so than the Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon. The 30-year-old was thrilled when Hopkins took a tour of the Patriots facility last month. He even put out a behind-the-scenes photo of him and DeAndre in the locker room. Rumors started to spread that the former Arizona Cardinals player was considering playing for Bill Belichick.

However, things played out differently, as Hopkins looks set to become a Titan within a few days. Judon, on the other hand, refuses to believe the news is real. He sent out a tweet earlier today, questioning the authenticity of the move. Judon even went as far as branding it “Fake News.”

After the announcement of Hopkins’ imminent signing with the Tennessee Titans, Matthew Judon was left red-faced. He is the one who hyped the fans with his cryptic social media post about Hopkins joining the Patriots. So it’s not that surprising that he would have a hard time coming to terms with the news.

However, Judon may have overlooked one critical aspect of buying a new player: the salary cap. His own cap hit $54 million last year. The Patriots managed to keep it contained at $18 million, which means Judon himself occupied a lot of the wage book. Owner Robert Kraft probably didn’t have the means to land DeAndre Hopkins.

Moreover, Emmanuel Acho has claimed that the presence of Derrick Henry is one of the reasons Hopkins may have been swayed to join the Titans. Moreover, a young quarterback like Will Levis and an experienced Ryan Tannehill will benefit Hopkins.

If the former Arizona Cardinals man were to join the Patriots, quarterback Mac Jones could have had a surge in the center. However, the New England faithful may never get to witness that
