Maxx Crosby, the defensive end of the Las Vegas Raiders, said he spoke with Justin Herbert, the quarterback of the Los Angeles Chargers, after the latter was subjected to a gruesome hit by Crosby’s teammate Jerry Tillery. The moment occurred in a close encounter between the Chargers and the Raiders and triggered a moment of controversy in the game. Both players surrounded each other and started arguing fiercely. Tillery was penalized, and he had to leave the field.

Crossby spoke about his conversation with Herbert a few days after the game. He posted a glimpse of that conversation on his X account. In the podcasting show, The Rush, the DE said, “Jerry made a bad play, we talked about it after the game, and he admitted his mistake. We can’t do that sh*t, it hurts the team. If I were to do it, I would have to f—king say the same thing.”

He added, “Every time we play Herbert, we have a conversation. We have mutual respect. So we are always talking. It is mutual respect. After the incident, I went to Herbert just to check whether his brain was in the right place.”

Justin Herbert did not suffer a major injury as the QB made an immediate comeback to the field. He completed his playtime and left the ground in good physical condition. Tillery, however, got suspended and left the field after the challenge he made.

There is hardly any doubt that the challenge was unnecessary. Herbert was already out of the reach of the Raiders players. Nonetheless, the team did not have any option except to stop him with the rush challenge. It could have resulted in a fatal outcome for Herbert. However, things went in line and Herbert is fine now.

The performance of the Chargers and the Raiders this season

The Los Angeles Chargers had a mixed start this season. They played four matches and won two while losing the other two games. The team is presently standing second in the AFC West group. The Las Vegas Raiders, on the other hand, are presently third in the same group. They lost three of their four matches and won just a single one.

The AFC Sub-Division is a hard nut to crack. Both teams have their encounters pending with the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals. It is going to be very difficult for them to reach the playoffs.
