Dallas Cowboys lost in the playoffs, which seems like a yearly tradition now. The 49ers defeated them 19-12 at Levi’s Stadium and this loss must’ve stung the Cowboys as San Francisco ousted them last year as well in the wild-card game.
The Cowboys were on cloud nine after defeating Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in the first leg of the playoffs. Dak Prescott, Mike McCarthy, and Jerry Jones were confident that this is the year America’s Team makes a comeback after winning its last Super Bowl in 1995.
But as Dallas has been the entire season, inconsistent, they were in the divisional playoffs as well. Seventh-year quarterback Dak Prescott delivered one of his worst performances in the Week 18 game against the Commanders and gave a glimmer of hope to the franchise and its fans with his gameplay against Tampa. Sadly, and some might say predictively, Prescott threw the game away.

After advancing to the NFC Championship, the 49ers wide receiver took to Instagram to rub it in Cowboys’ linebacker Micah Parsons‘s face. He shared a series of images on his post captioned: “Don’t poke the bear.” The 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year didn’t keep quiet and gave a befitting reply to Samuel. “Lol what did you do today fam lol ?! But congrats on the win ! But don’t put me in this weak ass slide,” Parsons commented on the post.
Even though the 49ers claimed the victory, they didn’t play any better than the Cowboys. Dallas fell victim to some bad plays at crucial moments that sealed their fate for them. Young sensation, Brock Purdy looked fazed by the Cowboys’ defense but did well for a rookie and ended the night with 214 yards on 19 of his 29 passing attempts. Deebo Samuel, who was trolling Parsons and the Cowboys for losing, didn’t exactly fill the stats sheets either.
Samuel ended the night with 45 yards on 4 receptions and rushed for a mere 11 yards on four carries. While the star wideout didn’t have the numbers to support his trash talk, he would happily accept them if it meant his team win the game. Parsons on the other hand, sacked the 49ers QB once, had four tackles, and one pass deflection for a loss.
San Francisco will have the last laugh as they will live on to the NFC Championship, their second consecutive one while Dallas is yet to appear in an NFC title game since 1995. Dallas’ owner Jerry Jones was mighty disappointed in Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy after they failed to deliver him an NFC Championship appearance, let alone the Super Bowl. Judging by his post-game interview, Jones is going to fire a lot of personnel in the coming weeks and just might start with Prescott. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in Dallas’ camp in the offseason.
