Micah Parsons has come under blast by the media for his comments alleging that the media is biased against the Dallas Cowboys. The linebacker’s reasoning is that the media does not go at other teams such as the Philadelphia Eagles or the San Francisco 49ers with the same energy when they lose games. He is right but the point that he does not understand is that the Dallas Cowboys put themselves in this situation by themselves. The team’s fans put them on such a high pedestal and celebrate like they won the Super Bowl after every regular season win. But when they lose a game and face criticism for it, neither the fans nor the players can take it.

Richard Sherman of Undisputed on FS1 called out Micah Parsons over his comments regarding the media. Sherman had a simple explanation and told Micah that the media would stop talking about America’s team in a negative light as long as they fulfilled this one condition. “If you don’t want to get bashed by the media, don’t lose by 32 in primetime.”

He is of course referring to the team’s loss against the San Francisco 49ers where they lost 42-10. Sherman goes on to add, “If you lose that game by 7, nobody will bash you…if you get a sack in that game, they’d say ‘Hey., Micah Parsons played well, he did his thing and had a huge impact on the game’, if Dak Prescott throws 3-4 touchdowns in that game, they’re not criticizing Dak Prescott for that game.”

Richard Sherman urges Micah Parsons to not get beat by double-digits if he does not wish to be criticized

Richard Sherman believes that if the Dallas Cowboys did in fact do their job and at least had put up a fight and lost by single-digit points, then nobody would really blame them or call them out as much. But the fact that they talk such a big game and then go against one of the best teams, the San Francisco 49ers, and then get beat by that big a margin, how can one not call them out for that? “Your defense gave up 42, Dak Prescott threw 3 interceptionsthe criticism was necessary and warranted. It’s very difficult to complement a team that gets beat on primetime 42-10 regardless of who the team is,” he said.

Sherman further elaborates that the media calls out athletes based on their performance and even when other athletes such as Jalen Hurts have played badly, the media has called them out on that. “I apologize, Micah Parsons, we did not have positive things to say regarding your 42-10 loss, and your other loss was also to a team that won only one game this year. It is hard to find positive things to say and you say the energy needs to be the same. Jalen Hurts played terrible, and we’re here to criticize that.”

Sherman goes on to state that no matter how good any other team in the NFL is doing, the Dallas Cowboys will always be spoken about because they are America’s team and people want to hear about them.

Sherman believes that while Micah Parsons wants to enjoy and cherish the benefits of being on America’s team, he does not want to handle the criticism that comes along with it. But it does not work that way. The same thing that makes him happy and proud of being part of this organization can at times be a double-edged sword and as an athlete, it is something he has to understand.
