Justin Fields is a talented quarterback. He is also a frustrated quarterback right now. After a poor start to the season, Fields let his frustrations known in a recent press conference. He blamed the coaching staff for his loss of confidence and he claimed he felt ‘robotic’ against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Chicago Bears‘ second game of the season.
Former Dallas Cowboy and a Pro Football Hall of Famer, Michael Irvin, talked about Fields’ frustration and equated it with potential first overall pick Caleb Williams‘ father wanting his son to land up at a good team. Irvin also talked about Fields’ thinking while leaving the huddle and how it is causing him to doubt himself during the game.
“He is leaving the huddle thinking way too much right now,” Irvin said on the Undisputed show on Fox Sports. “That worries me because I said what kinda coaching does he have. In coaching there is a system to it. When we practiced, there is a system to it. Why are these guys not do this with Justin Fields?”
He further continued saying, “Give him five plays and learn those five plays. And then we’re going to start expanding off those five so you feel comfortable as you’re learning in every step of the way. That’s why Caleb Williams’ dad said I wanna be careful where my son goes. I want to make sure he’s not in that kind of a situation.”
Fields later clarified his comments saying he “wasn’t blaming anything on the coaches.” Fields was drafted eleventh overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He and the Bears will play the Kansas City Chiefs in their next game and they will hope to get their first win of the season on Sunday.

Justin Fields clarifies comments made on the Bears’ coaching
Justin Fields commented on his play on Wednesday, blaming the ‘robotic’ feeling on the coaches. After the Chicago Bears’ second game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Fields said he ‘wasn’t necessarily playing my game.’
Fields held another media session following Bears’ midweek practice where he clarified the comments he made on Wednesday. “You guys’ jobs are to get clicks. So, it’s like, take my quote out of context and we can just say that,” he said. “If you paint the picture on the inside out, y’all are trying to split us up. I’m not blaming anything on the coaches, I’m never going to blame anything on the coaches. I’m never going to blame anything on my teammates. Whatever happens in the game, I will take all the blame.”
Fields and the Bears will travel to Arrowhead Stadium to play the defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. It will be a massive test for the Chicago-based team and they will enter the game as heavy underdogs.
