In a nail-biting encounter, the Cleveland Browns beat the Indianapolis Colts 39-38 this Sunday. The scorecard suggests the intensity of the game and how the Browns bested their counterparts. The game could have gone to anyone, but it was Cleveland’s night.
However, the night was frustrating for the wide receiver of the Colts, Michael Pittman Jr. He just had two receives in the entire game and covered just 83 yards in the entire game. After the game Pittman Jr. did not hide his agony and expressed frustration for not getting enough opportunities in the game.
In a post-match conversation with Nate Atkins, the WR spoke extensively about what he felt during the match. The player said:
They just didn't target me today, for whatever reason. Maybe I'm not a big part of the offense. When I do get the ball, I feel like I always do something with it. Just know that I'm liable to break off a big one in any situation vs. any team. I'm just trying to show the coaches that I'm out there, too.
The WR does not believe in moral victories. For him, the results are black and white. Either you win or you lose. There is no middle point in the entire thing. He expressed this agony in the conversation.
There's really no moral victories in a loss like this.
The Cleveland Browns’ defense is arguably the best in the league. However, Pittman Jr. did not find anything to be proud about scoring 38 points against this defense.
Michael Pittman Jr. has served the Colts well over the years
Michael Pittman Jr. has served the Colts well throughout his career. As a Colts player, he played four seasons. He was drafted in the year 2020 and in these seasons; the WR registered 269 receives among 396 targets.
He has covered 2,999 yards and has registered 12 touchdowns. This season, he has registered 42 receives and has covered 489 yards. The season is at a better level than his 2022 outing where he averaged 9.3 yards per reception.
His statistics do not define him as a bad player at all. He indeed has served the Colts multiple times. However, he is less impactful compared to others. In a league where the likes of Tyreek Hill and Christian McCaffrey compete, Pittman Jr. needs to raise his game.
