Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Cincinnati Bengals in the much-anticipated AFC Conference Championship game on Sunday. The expectations are through the roof for this matchup between two of the best quarterbacks in the league. However, one of the quarterbacks might not be able to perform at the highest level due to his injury.
The Chiefs franchise QB Patrick Mahomes suffered an ankle injury during the first quarter in their divisional round game against the Jaguars. Furthermore, he was briefly replaced by the Chiefs’ second-string quarterback Chad Henne before Mahomes came back and finished the game with a heavily taped ankle. Although the QB wasn’t the same after the injury, he was wobbly for most of the game since he couldn’t put weight on his injured ankle.
Still, he managed to lead the Chiefs to a victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars and advanced to the AFC Championship game. But there are still questions about Mahomes’ availability for their decisive game. The Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid has said that Mahomes is trending in the right direction toward being able to go against the defending AFC Champions.
Nevertheless, many people are still doubting if Mahomes can play to his full potential due to the injury, but Michael Vick thinks the exact opposite. The former Eagles QB believes Mahomes will play better with an injured ankle.

Michael Vick expects greatness from Patrick Mahomes
During his interview with TMZ, the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback implied that he believes from his own experiences that the injury could actually help Patrick Mahomes to play better against the defending AFC Champions.
“I know this from playing at a high level and playing against high-level competition,” Vick said, “sometimes when you play hurt, you’ll be a little bit more focused. A little bit more dialed in.”
Vick then went on to say that playing hurt is not a bad thing if one knows how to play with an injury. “Playing hurt is not a bad thing if you know how to do it,” Vick said. “Only certain people can do it — and the ones that are listening right now, they know what I’m saying. They can relate,” said Vick about playing with an injury.
Nevertheless, Patrick Mahomes will certainly play as hard as he can to help the Chiefs get even with the Cincinnati Bengals led by Joe Burrow in their conference Championship matchup on Sunday.
