“He’s DONE”: Mike Evans shuts the door on rumors of Rob Gronkowski’s return to the NFL

Rob Gronkowski shut the door on news of his return this upcoming season by announcing his retirement for the second time. The Hall of Fame tight end has hung his cleats up after a career that witnessed 521 receptions for 7,861 receiving yards, and 79 total touchdowns. He holds multiple records and it comes as no surprise that he is dubbed to be the best tight end to ever do it.

Though Robbie G has told that he is done, there were still hopes of him maybe coming back mid-season in case the Tampa Bay Buccanneers were not having a good season, after all, he has and always will be the Robin to Tom Brady’s Batman. If the GOAT calls, you answer. Gronk also has a personality like that, he tends to surprise you with curveballs like this that you never saw coming.

“I hope he comes back”: Mike Evans on Rob Gronkowski

Recently, Mike Evans, the star wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers appeared on KPRC for an interview. He discussed the retirement of Rob Gronkowski and was asked if there was any chance that the tight end could return once again to the NFL? Rob loves taking breaks and just having fun while living life. Remember he left the Patriots by retiring from the league so he could not get traded?

Mike Evans is of the opinion that all this talk of Gronk being bad at staying retired like Brady is untrue. “I feel like he’s done. He plays the tight end position and he plays it max effort. Gives it his all, practices really hard takes a lot of shots, blocks, and runs after the catch. He takes a pretty big beating, I’ve seen his body after some of the games and I understand why,” Evans justifies Gronk’s decision to retire as he knows when he was in the league, every time he stepped on the field, he gave it his everything.

The tight end has undergone nine surgeries and had 20 concussions through the course of his career, that has to be a record in itself. Rob has been gifted in multiple aspects but staying healthy is not one of them. Given his injury history, he has to have sat down and had a deep thought on how he wants to live in the future and what if these injuries got worse due to him playing again?

Mike Evans will always hope that Gronk comes back, “I hope he comes back. With Tom and Gronk, you never know, I wouldn’t be mad if he came back. I’d actually be really excited if he came back,” he concludes stating that he genuinely wishes that he return.
