Mike McCoy and Trevor Lawrence
The Jacksonville Jaguars had a terrible season last time around and what added on to their misery was Urban Meyer’s antics. One after the other, Meyer kept getting himself involved in controversies and needless to say, it didn’t rubbed of well on the players.
However, one can’t shy away from criticizing Trevor Lawrence’s poor performances either. Completion percentage, yards, touchdowns, the Jaguars QB came in dead last in almost all the facets of the game.

To pile on the misery, Lawrence threw as many as 17 interception. However, QB coach Mike McCoy reckons that the man deserves another go at the big stage as it is tough for rookie QBs to straightaway deliver what is expected from them in their first season.
“It’s tough. The quarterback position is as tough as there is in any business in professional sports because you don’t have to just know your position, you gotta know everybody’s position,” McCoy stated as reported by SI.com.
The coach added that Lawrence learned a lot in his first season and is going to definitely get better with experience. “I think he learned so much about this game at this level, you know. Very successful in college, but quarterbacks, they struggle with their rookie season. There are so many different things. You’re learning the new system number one, and the offseason program is only so long for rookies. And then you get into training camp.“
McCoy went on to add that this time around, Lawrence is looking in great shape and he is going to only get better. “The last couple of days through the OTAs, you see some of the checks that he’s made the line of scrimmage,” McCoy said.
“He’s making quicker decisions now,” he further claimed. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out.
