The Tennessee Titans scooped the Kentucky quarterback Will Levis with the 33rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Levis surprisingly slid out of the first round and the Titans traded up with the Arizona Cardinals to acquire the highly touted QB.
The Titans entered the 2023 Draft with a lot of needs. They addressed the offensive line with their first pick as they drafted the Northwestern offensive tackle Peter Skoronski. In the second round, they moved up 8 spots to select QB Will Levis with the second pick in the second round of the draft despite their glaring needs at the other positions.
The Tennessee-based football team could’ve added a weapon for their quarterback Ryan Tannehill but they decided to draft his replacement instead. Fans on social media had mixed reactions to the Titans using a high draft pick on a quarterback, especially since they just drafted QB Malik Willis in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
So now, the Titans have 3 quarterbacks under contract and their head coach Mike Vrabel claims that their second-round pick, Will Levis, will start as the third-string quarterback in QB depth charts. Vrabel said that Levis will have to compete with Tannehill and Willis to move up the depth chart.
Will Levis will join the Titans camp as the 3rd-string QB

After the Tennessee Titans drafted Will Levis in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, head coach Mike Vrabel said that there will be a three-way race for the starting QB job in Tennessee. However, Levis will start the camp as the third-string QB while Ryan Tannehill and the 2022 third-round draft pick Malik Willis will start as the 1st string and 2nd string quarterbacks respectively.
“Ryan will be the starting quarterback on Monday,” Vrabel revealed at a news conference on Friday. “Malik will be the backup. Will will be the third quarterback. And what I’ve told them is whatever happens after that will be up to the players. That’s what it’s always been here. That’s what we always want it to be.”
Tannehill will most likely be the starting QB of the Titans in the 2023 NFL season. However, Levis could move ahead of Willis in the depth chart and claim the backup QB job in 2023. He could eventually become the full-time starter for the Tennessee-based football team.
The former first-round draft pick Tannehill has one year remaining on his contract with the Titans. It’s highly unlikely he’ll get an extension, the Titans would likely move on from Tannehill after 2023 and either Levis or Willis would take over the starting QB job.
