The Philadelphia Eagles have done it! They advance to their second NFC Championship in the last five years. The Nick Sirianni-led Eagles wiped the floor with the New York Giants 38-7 in an epic blowout.
So much for Jalen Hurt‘s shoulder injury. He was back in his MVP form and threw darts all night to DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert. The defense attacked from the start of the game and completely shut out the Giants’ offense in the first half of the game as the Eagles led 28-0.
Hats off to Brian Daboll and Daniel Jones for bringing the Giants to the playoffs which wasn’t supposed to happen. The offense and defense need to be rebuilt if they wish to bring the Eli Manning era back to New York. At least they can find solace in the fact that they defeated the Vikings and reached the divisional round, their first since 2011 when they won the Super Bowl.
Nick Sirianni gets into it with refs at the sideline
The Eagles carried forward their regular season momentum and showed everyone that they meant business. Jalen Hurts was an absolute beast and it was evident that he would’ve won the league MVP over Patrick Mahomes had he not been injured. He completed 16 of his 24 passing attempts for 254 yards and two touchdowns. Hurts was lightning on his feet as he rushed for 34 yards on nine carries and a touchdown.
The highlight of the game came during the final few seconds of the first half. Jalen Hurts had just rushed in for a touchdown and the Eagles lined up for a 2-point attempt. That’s when head coach Nick Sirianni called for a timeout. Sirianni was heard shouting “I know what the f**k I’m doing and I’m allowed to be down here.” Apparently, a ref on the sideline exchanged a few words with Sirianni who was close to the endzone sideline, and asked him to move from there.
Nick Sirianni was visibly hurt by being treated like a fan who wasn’t supposed to be there. Anyways, he called for a timeout and the Eagles kicked for an extra point and took the lead to 28-0 entering the second half of the game.
After making a joke out of the New York Giants, Nick Sirianni broke out the ‘Dream Chaser’ chain in the locker room and enjoyed the victory before the Eagles headed into the NFC Championship game and recreate some of that Super Bowl LII magic!
