Nick Wright is leaving no stone unturned to prove that Brock Purdy, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback does not deserve to win the MVP award this season. In another episode of ‘First Things First,’ the analyst took a jibe at Purdy. And not for the first time. This has become a repeated activity for Wright to denounce Purdy and his achievements this season.

In the recent episode of First Things First, the analyst said:

The engine that moves the San Francisco 49ers is their running back. Which is why in the biggest football game of the year, on the best network where we watch football, you know how we are promoting it. We are showing the two most offensive players, Jalen Hurts and Christian McCaffrey.

He further noted:

We basically always do quarterbacks. We always put Daniel Jones over Saquon Barkley. But we can't do it here. He can't be the league's MVP.

As mentioned earlier, this is not the first time, the analyst used some harsh words against Purdy. He has been doing this since the beginning of the season. Earlier, it was Purdy and McCaffrey both performing well and the 49ers were on fire. They won all their five first five games. Wright denied credit for Purdy and gave his flowers to McCaffrey. He even criticized Purdy when the QB failed to carry momentum in three three matches.

Wright’s love for Patrick Mahomes is not a secret. Everyone knows that he does not encourage anyone for the MVP award but Mahomes. That is the sole reason for denouncing Purdy’s achievements. With 19 TDs and six interceptions for more than 2,800 yards, Purdy has had a breakthrough season this year.

Brock Purdy has a redemption after the bye week

Brock Purdy had a bad patch after the first five games. He started getting intercepted regularly. It all started against the Cleveland Browns, where Purdy had one of the worst games in his life. The poor form continued against the Cincinnati Bengals. The 49ers had a disappointing result against the Bengals.

The bye week was pivotal as it provided a much-needed physical and mental rest to the quarterback. He came back with a back and seven touchdowns in the next three games put him back in the MVP discussions again.

Presently he is ranked top among quarterbacks and proposes a strong argument for the MVP award.
