“Final Five”: Odell Beckham Jr. cuts down list of potential teams to five determined to return to the NFL by November end
OBJ is looking to be on the active roster of an NFL team by the end of November.
Odell Beckham Jr. will be returning to the NFL very soon. The Super Bowl champion has cut down the list of potential teams he intends to sign with to five from seven. The current list includes the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants, and the San Francisco 49ers. The wideout appears to have moved on from wanting to re-sign with the Los Angeles Rams.
The Green Bay Packers is another team that makes a notable absence from this list. As per Adam Schefter, the wideout will have made his final decision by the end of November and will be on an active roster going into December. It is not surprising that the Rams are absent from OBJ’s list as the team does not appear to be in contention to make the Super Bowl this season.
Coming to the Packers, the team is struggling to stay afloat and their offense has been nothing short of disastrous this season. Odell Beckham Jr. has made it clear that he intends to play for a serious contender and league sources believe the wideout wants a free agent deal similar to that of Chris Godwin or Mike Williams, who are each making $20 million per season.
That is a lot to ask, considering Beckham is coming off an ACL injury. We do not know if he is half of the wideout that he was before he went down. Any team that does sign him will essentially be taking a big bet on him. There has been no question about his marketability, the fans have always loved him and his talent and skill set have been on a different level.
Odell Beckham Jr. is almost ready to be cleared for all physical activities:
Odell Beckham Jr. may make nearly $5 million for the remainder of this season. League scouts are optimistic about the wide receiver. Teams are of the opinion that he is looking for a multiyear stable deal which would give them room to structure a deal that will benefit both sides.
The Dallas Cowboys have been pushing to sign OBJ, Jerry Jones recently stated that the Cowboys helmet would look great on the wideout, not to mention Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb who have publicly been recruiting him. Dallas could use a good wideout who can come in clutch and remain consistent.
The Bills are another solid team that looks like guaranteed Super Bowl contenders. Von Miller, who was on the Rams last season and signed with Buffalo this year, has been hinting that OBJ has made his mind up and in all likelihood will sign with the Bills once he is cleared to play.
The Chiefs have to be on the radar of any wideout’s potential team list. Patrick Mahomes is a quarterback that most receivers dream to play with. However, the most fascinating team on his list is the New York Giants. OBJ is considering a return to his former team, which has been playing rather well. With Saquon Barkley back and Daniel Jones looking consistent, the Giants would not be that bad an option either.
OBJ is looking to get back on the field at the earliest. His doctor, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who conducted the surgery on his injured knee, is prepared to clear him for all physical activities very soon.
