Odell Beckham Jr went from winning a Super Bowl title with the Los Angeles Rams to an entire season of spending time away from the NFL. The 30-year-old wide receiver had an incredible season with the Rams but suffered an ACL tear during the Super Bowl game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
If not for the injury, he was on for a Super Bowl MVP and had also scored the opening touchdown of the game, helping his franchise grab the Lombardi Trophy. Post that injury, he continued his rehabilitation and was on the verge of a return last season.
He was extremely close to signing for the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys, with plenty of interest before the postseason from both these franchises. However, it was later revealed that he wouldn’t be completely ready to make a return and decided against returning mid-season.

Odell Beckham Jr is very close to making a return to the NFL

He is currently a free agent and has hinted towards a return to the NFL this season with a video uploaded on his official Twitter account. OBJ captioned the teaser video, “don’t compare me to no other ?…if they went thru what i went thru they woulda been folded….”
The ACL tear is one of the worst injuries, a player can suffer, and takes a huge toll on one’s body, therefore it will be a big ask for OBJ to reach the benchmark he’s set in the past. While teams had lined up for him last season it would be interesting to see whether they do the same this time around, especially after the fact that he’s missed a whole season of football.
The Dallas Cowboys were one of the strongest contenders to get his signature last season, with Jerry Jones hyping up the 30-year-old big time. Even head coach Mike McCarthy had praised Odell Beckham Jr’s pass-catching abilities but a final contract did not materialize in the end.
Now, OBJ looks all set to return to the league, and will probably make his next move within three weeks’ time when the free agency starts for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
