The O.J. Simpson trial in 1995 was one that shook the nation to its core. Despite the running back being acquitted of all charges, after going through the facts of the case and the evidence presented, significant demography was still convinced that Simpson did, in fact, do it but was clever enough to get away with it.
The running back’s popularity took a nosedive following the trial, as nobody wanted to associate with him or be seen with him despite his acquittal. Dan Patrick was one of the journalists who got an opportunity to interview the former NFL running back shortly after the trial. Here’s what Dan had to say regarding his experience with O.J. Simpson:
I interviewed O.J. Simpson, I made a terrible mistake...Dan Patrick on Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson’s podcast
The duo were just casually talking about general topics such as football and discussing O.J.’s alma mater, the University of Southern California. All of a sudden, Simpson asked Dan Patrick:
You think I did it?
O.J. was referring to the murder allegations leveled against him.
Dan Patrick did not hesitate to answer O.J. Simpson’s question
The journalist could not believe what he had just heard, and he wanted to hear the entire question from O.J.’s mouth.
I go, 'Did what?' I wanted him to say it, so, I said 'Did what?' And he said, killed those two people. And I said, yes.

Dan Patrick did not hesitate to call out the running back and share his true thoughts in front of him. The O.J. Simpson matter was an extremely complicated one. Despite being deemed innocent by the Court, he was perceived to be guilty by the public as a result of the extensive media trial that he was subjected to.

The O.J. trial will forever remain a dark moment in sports history as never before had such a decorated individual who had mind-boggling stats ended up in such a position. After the trial, Simpson’s stellar NFL career and what he did for the running back position were overshadowed by his alleged actions.
