Rookie quarterback for the NFL side the Carolina Panthers, Matt Corral suffered a ligament tear in the preseason game against the New England Patriots which could keep him on the sidelines for the entirety of the 2022-23 season.
Carolina Panthers head coach said that Matt Corral had suffered from a “significant” Lisfranc ligament tear. Although the coaches and medical staff are trying their best to ensure Matt Corral returns as fast as possible, on an average it takes players 11.6 months to recover from surgery.

The Caroline Panthers still have an ongoing struggle to choose between Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold although almost everyone suggests Mayfield will be the starting. Matt Corral was going to be the third quarterback behind Mayfield and Darnold.
“I would assume it would be a while; I would assume it would be a significant amount of time,” Rhule said Saturday. “I’m pretty sure it will be a long-term injury.I hate it for him,” Rhule said of Corral. “I thought he was playing well, too.”
“I thought I saw a lot of really nice signs early in the game,” Rhule said. “But I know Matt’s a battler. This year’s developmental. He’s just going to have to grind, both taking care of his foot and all the things he needs to do as a quarterback.Hopefully, someday he’ll look back and say it was a blessing, but I hate it for him right now.”
