In an attempt to strengthen the defense, the Carolina Panthers re-signed one of their dependable weapons, Derrick Brown. After three years, the contract of the DL ended but the Panthers did not decide to trade him. Instead, they offered a lucrative four-year deal that valued him at $96 million, also providing him with a guaranteed $63 million.

As a result of the deal, the DL would get $24 million as an annual salary. He became the NFL defensive lineman with the fourth-highest salary in the NFL.

Brown was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the year 2020 from Auburn. Since then, he has been an important figure of the Carolina Panthers. In his four years with the Panthers, the player has amounted to 245 total tackles. However, his best came last season when the DL registered 103 total tackles, a record in a single season for a DL.

Despite the poor performance of the Panthers, the DL held significant value last season. It reflected when the defensive coordinator spoke highly of him. To describe the deal, DC Ejiro Evero said:

What you see in him is just continued growth and maturation and learning the NFL game, understanding, not only using his physical ability, but also all the nuances of the game that come with experience, and all of that is just playing out.

The DL will turn 26 in a few months. It is expected that he will be healthy and fresh and will provide the best in the coming time.
