The former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee is having a good couple of weeks. He first became a father after his wife Samantha McAfee recently gave birth to their first child and a few weeks later, the Green Bay Packers icon Brett Favre has now backed down on his attempt to sue McAfee.
Earlier this year, Brett Favre sued Pat McAfee, Shannon Sharpe, and the Mississippi state auditor Shad White for defamation. Favre claimed that all the people that were being sued by him were using the Packers icon name to further their audience. McAfee, Sharpe, and White all reported that Favre intentionally stole money from the poor people of Mississippi.
The 11-time Pro Bowl QB’s attorneys claimed the allegations that Brett Favre intentionally stole welfare funds were based on groundless claims with no evidence. Favre was accused of stealing more than a million dollars from the Mississippi welfare funds and using it to build an indoor volleyball stadium for his alma mater Southern Miss.
Favre has been denying any intentional wrongdoings from the beginning. He was not charged a criminal case by the state of Mississippi and he has repaid the $1.1 million to the welfare department, claiming that he did not know the money came from the funds.

Brett Favre makes amends with the Colts legend Pat McAfee
During the Thursday edition of The Pat McAfee show, the Indianapolis Colts legend Pat McAfee revealed that the former Packers QB Brett Favre has withdrawn his defamation lawsuit.
“As I confirmed in my court papers and I repeat here, my statements expressed in comedic style were based solely on public statements and allegations,” McAfee said.
“As I have previously stated, I respect the hell out of Brett Favre the football player, and his Hall of Fame career on the field, and I have no personal knowledge about any case involving Brett in Mississippi … I am pleased to report that based solely on me again clarifying these points now, with no settlement paid, Brett is withdrawing his suit against me.”
Favre also acknowledged McAfee’s statements and took to social media to confirm that he indeed has solved his issue with McAfee and has withdrawn his lawsuit. “We’d both much rather talk about football,” tweeted Favre.
It is unsure if the 53-year-old also withdrew the lawsuit against Fox Sports analyst Shannon Sharpe and Shad White. Unlike McAfee, Sharpe and White haven’t talked a lot publicly about their lawsuit.
