The NFL 2023 season is all set to begin on Thursday and TV programs are gearing up with intense debates and high-quality discussions. Analysts are choosing their sides and taking the bets on players.
Last season, the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl. No one has forgotten the phenomenal season of the star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. However, Mahomes was not alone in ensuring the success of his team. He was well-supported by player Chris Jones, who as a defensive tackle was a partner in crime.
Presently, a lot of discussions are being circulated about Jones as the DT is reportedly upset with his team. The analysts have already highlighted this problem in their opinions. In the popular podcasting show, ‘Speak,’ James Jones said that the Kansas City Chiefs won’t be able to win the trophy without Chris Jones. Chris was rock solid last season and was a major factor in clinching the title.
“There is no Super Bowl without Chris Jones in that building. He’s the Patrick Mahomes of the defense,” the analyst said.
The analyst also highlighted how Chris Jones closed the game for the Chiefs last year. His strong mentality and high-class defensive skills made the way for the Kansas-based team. Since his presence in this season is unsure, the fortune for the Chiefs this time maybe heavily dampened.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and QB Pat Mahomes are reportedly upset with the behavior of Jones. He missed the entire preseason and did not attend the team’s practice sessions. He is also missing the ongoing training sessions due to contract conflict with the management.

What has happened to Chris Jones?
The no-show of Chris Jones in the practice suggests that the contract negotiation between two entities is not in a better situation. Jones is looking for a long-term contract and presently he is in the final year of his existing contract and is expected to get $19.5 million as the basic salary.
The tension escalated between the two parties after Jones liked a tweet that hinted that the DT could sign for the Dallas Cowboys this season. He also made a tweet that triggered speculations. In one of his recent tweets, the DT wrote that he is more motivated than ever.
The overall situation is frustrating for the fans and the head coach Andy Reid. In a press conference, Reid did not hide his grudge over the situation. He said, “I can’t tell you. I don’t know, I don’t know what his agenda is, whether he’s coming or not coming. We’re rolling right now, I haven’t put that much thought into that part.”
