LeBron James added another record to his name on Tuesday night, and this is one of the daddy ones!

Despite playing in 150 fewer games than NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1,560), King James (1,410) surpassed him as the league’s all-time scorer with 38,388 career points. It was his night, his time, and his moment, and he shined brighter than the sun. James achieved the herculean task with a beautiful fadeaway on OKC Thunder’s Kenrich Williams.

LeBron James was dubbed ‘The Chosen One’ by Sports Illustrated during high school and when he entered the league, he had to play in the shadow of the great Michael Jordan and was constantly compared to him. After 20 years in the NBA, King James has more than proven himself as one of the greatest of all time, with a long list of accolades and records.

LeBron James was congratulated by everyone in the sports world for breaking a 39-year record. POTUS Joe Biden also sent his wishes in a beautiful video message and congratulated his entire family and gave them his love from right the White House. Celebrities like Jay-ZFloyd Mayweather, Bad Bunny, and Denzel Washington were present in Crypto.com Arena to watch James’ script history. Pro Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe was also sitting courtside and was hyping up his friend during the entire game.

Patrick Mahomes, aka ‘Baby GOAT’, was also left flabbergasted, like the millions of fans around the world, when King James finally broke Abdul-Jabbar’s record. He took to Twitter and shared his wishes and congratulated the 38-year-old NBA icon. Mahomes’ tweet read: “Congrats!!! @KingJames legendary stuff!!”

The Chiefs quarterback has been legendary himself. Within the short five years he has been in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes has led his team to five AFC Championships and three Super Bowls. He too has a plethora of records to his name that quarterbacks with more than a decade’s worth of playing in the league couldn’t make.

Here’s how fans from both leagues reacted to Mahomes’ tweet.

Now, Patrick Mahomes has a shot to get his second Super Bowl ring after Tom Brady and the Bucs denied him in Super Bowl LV. Mahomes was completely shut down by Tampa Bay’s defense and he couldn’t score a single touchdown in the world championship game. The Philadelphia Eagles have a similar, or some might say a better, defense than the Bucs had in Super Bowl LV. Let’s see if history repeats itself or does Patrick Mahomes write his own destiny this time around.

Can Mahomes also do some legendary stuff just like King James? Only time will tell!
