On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs, led by their 2-time league MVP quarterback, Patrick Mahomes defeated the San Francisco 49ers in their Super Bowl game in Vegas. Following their victory, Mahomes declared this was the start of a new dynasty in the league.
During the post-game interview, the CBS Sports’ sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson asked Mahomes whether the Super Bowl win on Sunday marks the start of a new Chiefs dynasty. Mahomes answered yes and said it was only the beginning.
Yeah, it’s the start of one, we’re not done. I know we’re gonna celebrate tonight, celebrate at the parade Wednesday in Kansas City, but we’re not done. We’ve got a young team, we’re gonna keep this thing going.
Patrick Mahomes told Tracy Wolfson
Despite trailing for most part of the game, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs managed to register a comeback victory against the 49ers on Sunday in the title game. Mahomes had a great outing as he completed 34 of his 46 pass attempts for 333 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. He did throw one interception, but he managed to make up for it in the end.
As a result, he ended up winning the Super Bowl MVP for the third time in his short career so far. Now, Mahomes and the Chiefs have won three Super Bowl rings in the last five years and they have dominated the AFC in that same period. So, it’s officially the start of a new dynasty in the NFL and given that Patrick Mahomes is just 28 years old, they could easily end up dominating the league for the next few years.
Patrick Mahomes is proud of his teammates and coaches
On Sunday, the Chiefs secured the 4th Super Bowl ring in the franchise’s history after defeating the 49ers. During the trophy presentation ceremony at the podium, the Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes praised his teammates and coaches for their remarkable season.
I'm just proud of the guys, they kept believing. And I'm proud of the coaches for calling up those plays that got us some touchdowns there at the end. Just know that the Kansas City Chiefs are never underdogs. Just know that.Patrick Mahomes said at the podium
Nonetheless, Mahomes already has a Hall of Fame resume with three Super Bowl rings, three Super Bowl MVPs, and two league MVPs. Many people consider him as the second-best quarterback to ever play in the league and Mahomes still has plenty of years left to improve that resume and become the GOAT.
