Nick Wright was livid with the Cincinnati Bengals for their treatment of Joe Burrow. In the recent segment of FOX Sports First Things First, he blasted them for playing the quarterback despite sustaining injuries.

Wright addressed a video that was circulating prior to Thursday night’s game at M&T Stadium in Baltimore. Burrow was seen wearing protective braces on his throwing hand. The clip was quickly deleted from social media.

It came back to bite the Bengals in the back. Not only did they lose their fifth game of the season, 34-20, but they also lost Joe Burrow. And it was my right hand that gave up in the middle of the play. Nick Wright voiced his concern for the 26-year-old.

He said:

I truly feel sick for Joe and for the Bengals fans. I know the Chiefs-Bengals rivalry, whatever it is, but this suc*s. And I have a major issue with how reckless and impulsive the Bengals have treated the maybe best player in the history of their franchise.

Nick Wright claimed that the Bengals can’t treat Joe Burrow just like any other player

Quarterbacks are one of the most protected players in a franchise. That’s mainly because they are the heart and soul of the team. Every play starts with him. If that important cog gets damaged somehow, then the entire system is bound to collapse like a deck of cards.

While the Bengals season is not over yet, it will be tough if Burrow spends a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Judging by head coach Zac Taylor‘s revelation, the Pro Bowler may indeed be out for a while. That has angered Nick Wright because he believes that if the Bengals knew Burrow was carrying an injury, he should not have been allowed to play.

Wright said:

You cannot treat this guy like he's expendable. They have all year, and now a guy who has been injured a lot is now injured again, and your season's over. And that's on the team.

This hasn’t gone down well with the league. Moreover, according to reports, the NFL committee will launch an investigation as to why the Bengals did not add Burrow to the injured list if he did indeed carry a knock.

Furthermore, a picture of the LSU graduate wearing a compression sleeve on his right hand made its way onto X. And the league received the notification. It doesn’t get easier for Cincinnati as they face AFC North rivals the Pittsburgh Steelers next.
