Last Wednesday, what was started as a celebration quickly turned into a nightmare after tragic shooting took place during the Kansas City Chiefs‘ Super Bowl victory parade. The shooting left 22 people, including 11 children injured and 1 person killed. And now, a few days later, the Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany Mahomes visited the children’s hospital to meet the victims.

According to Fox 4 KC reporter Malik Jackson, the Chiefs’ All-Pro quarterback visited Kansas City’s children’s hospital and had a chat with the sisters, who were shot in the legs during the shooting incident. The sisters were 10 and 8 years old.

Later, the Reyes family thanked Patrick and Brittany Mahomes for their outpouring of care, love, and support in a statement according to People. They also shared that their girls are making a quick recovery. But they have to be in casts for several months.

In a time where they are traumatized, saddened, and worried, having a surprise appearance from Patrick and Brittany Mahomes brought the first smile to their faces since tragedy struck. Even though they will be wearing casts for several months they are excited to show loved ones that Patrick signed their cast.
The Reyes family said in a statement

All the 12 injured victims, including the 2 sisters, have been discharged from the hospital as of Saturday. But they have a long road ahead in terms of recovering from the incident, physically and mentally.

Apart from Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, the Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce also supported the family of the 2 young girls by donating $100,000 to their GoFundMe page. In addition, Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, also made a huge $100,000 donation to the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, who was killed during the shooting. Lisa was a cousin of the mother of the 2 injured sisters, whom Patrick and Brittany visited on Friday.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs set up emergency fund following the Super Bowl parade shooting

Following the tragic shooting incident that claimed the life of 1 person and injured several others, the 3-time Super Bowl MVP and the Chiefs started an emergency fund. The fund will raise money to support the victims and first responders during these dire times.

Nonetheless, 3 suspects, including 2 minors have been arrested by the cops and charged with gun-related offenses in connection to the Super Bowl parade shooting. The cops have learned the shooting was a result of an escalated personal beef and wasn’t a coordinated attack.
