“If I was stuck with this woman I’d kill myself”: Patrick Mahomes wife gets brutally trolled online, Brittany responds on Instagram story
Brittany and Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes is an exceptionally talented quarterback with a cannon for an arm. He has been called a generational QB, one that we get to see rarely. The combination of his throwing abilities paired with his high football IQ has already made him a legend, he has already been compared to the likes of Tom Brady and his latest extension with the Kansas City Chiefs for half a billion dollars adds more fuel to that argument.
However, as the case is with every player, nobody is perfect. Like how Antonio Brown self-destructed his career due to his behavioral issues, for Mahomes, it has largely been his family, his wife Brittany Mahomes, and brother Jackson Mahomes who have largely been criticized for their shenanigans on the sidelines. His brother calls himself a TikTok star and he has made quite controversial ones. Brittany has also been supportive and enabling of such behavior which has led fans to dislike her as well.
Brittany Mahomes actively spoke out against the culture of spreading hate online:
This time Brittany is back in the limelight once again, not because of something that she did but because of a comment that was left on her social media page by a fan or a hater. The post that she received this comment on was a picture of Patrick Mahomes, her, and their child.
The user whose name she blurred out completely had left the following comment, “If I was stuck with this woman for life I’d kill myself.” Quite a disturbing comment, especially on a post with your family’s picture on it. Brittany usually does not clap back at trolls that often as she has now learned how to ignore the hate and do her own thing but this comment appeared to get on her nerves and she could not stop herself from replying. She posted a story of this comment critiquing the person who left such a comment filled with hate.
Brittany responded by posting a story with the caption, “Making comments like this are very very concerning but also highly inappropriate. “Killing yourself” is not a term to just be throwing around like this. It’s actually a very serious matter. People deal with these thoughts often. And it can be very triggering to some people.” She went on to criticize the state of the world that we live in and how it has become normal to hate each other.
“The culture and society in today’s world can be extremely hurtful…please be aware when you say stuff like this and know it can affect a lot of people if they even see or read these words. Let’s be better.”
Being related to a star of Mahomes’ caliber comes with its share of pros and cons. The attention and hate are definitely a con but it is something that is a part of being in that position. Though the comments made were not something anyone would want to be said to their face, trolls online do not really take into account the feelings of people to who they pass comments.
