The wait is over! The former Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has found his new team as he signs a new one-year deal with the New England Patriots team on Monday according to multiple reports. Elliott, who spent the last 7 seasons in Dallas is now headed to New England to further strengthen Bill Belichick’s offense.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Elliott signed a one-year deal worth up to $6 million. Elliott was shockingly released by the Cowboys in the 2023 off-season following his seven-year tenure. On July 29, the 28-year-old running back had a free agent visit with the New England-based football team.
Now, he has officially signed with the Patriots and will decorate Bill Belichick’s offensive backfield. Elliott revealed on Monday that he will be wearing No.15 in New England, the number he used to wear during his college football days at Ohio State. The Patriots and Bill Belichick have been looking to add a running back in the off-season after losing RB Damien Harris in free agency. They signed the former Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson to a one-year deal but shockingly ended up releasing him ahead of the training camp.
The Pats have Rhamondre Stevenson on their roster. And now, Elliott will be a great RB2 in Mac Jones‘ offensive unit. Elliott is great at running between the tackles and has a knack for picking up blitzes. He will be a great addition to the Patriots, who are residing in one of the toughest divisions in the entire league.
Social media reacts to Ezekiel Elliott signing with the Patriots

The Patriots signing the star running back Ezekiel Elliott seems like a good move by the general manager Bill Belichick. But New England fans are not happy with the signing at all. Fans believe Zeke is washed and wouldn’t be a great help to the Patriots’ offense. Check out some of the reactions below!
Last season, Elliott registered 876 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns in the 15 games he played. But since Elliott had an expensive contract and the Cowboys had Tony Pollard on their roster, they decided to move on from the 3-time Pro Bowler.
Elliott hasn’t registered a Pro Bowl campaign in 3 years but is responsible for 32 touchdowns in that time frame. He certainly still has a lot left in his tank and could be a massive asset for the Patriots team in the upcoming NFL season.
