With a 10-7 record in the 2021 NFL season, Mac Jones and the New England Patriots made the playoffs. However, they fell to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round. Nevertheless, the Patriots seemed to have a promising future if they built efficiently. Jones looked like a much better QB option in 2021. He performed better than his fellow draft picks like Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, and Zach Wilson.

However, from the beginning of this season, the team has fallen lower on the graph. They now stand at an abysmal 1-5 record this season. This is the first time the team has performed so poorly in a season since 1995. The fanbase remains unhappy due to the lack of progress and disappointing results.

After the Patriots quarterback Mac Jones‘ bizarre performance against the Las Vegas Raiders, one fan went on X to share a video of the burning jersey of the six-time Super Bowl Champions. Burning athletes’ jerseys isn’t something new to see in the NFL. However, what’s shocking is that football fans aren’t quite liking this across social media.

The fan of burning Jones’ jersey wrote, “And now that the Patriots are 1-5, we have officially entered “burning of Mac Jones jersey” territory part of the season.” Adding fuel to it, another fan wrote, “F**king losers…lol.”

A user who was not an NFL fan commented on the tweet,“i dont watch sports but imagine being so mad at your sportsball team for not winning that you burn a ~$100 jersey and think its some sort of own, absolute toddler like behavior lol.”

Patriots fans are not used to their team being at such a low graph. They have previously won six Super Bowls in two decades. During this, they also went to eight consecutive AFC Championship Games, from 2011 to 2018.

Drafted in 2021, Jones had a good record in the first two seasons, with a completion record of 67.6 and 65.2, respectively. He is just four interceptions away from reaching his record last year. But fans are arguing he doesn’t deserve his jersey to be burned. Football fans worldwide criticize the one who burned Jones’ jersey using gasoline. Some say Jones should not be blamed for his line inadequacy to protect him long enough to throw a ball or because of coach Bill Belichicks fault.

Other fans are referring to Latino Patriots fans as “wild,” while others are using terms like “pathetic,” “dumb,”classless!” and “goofy.” It’s quite clear that most football fans think burning an athlete’s jersey is extreme. As for the Patriots, they may have a nasty start this season, but they still are six times Super Bowl Champions. And there still are 11 games remaining this season for them to turn the season in their favor.
