Mark Davis‘ ownership of the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces has been nothing short of outstanding. Since taking over the Vegas Basketball franchise and hiring Becky Hammon as the head coach, they have outdone almost every other franchise.

Hammon’s appointment came as a surprise at that time, but it paid dividends. Under the tutelage of the former star point guard, the Aces became the team to beat.

Last year, Davis’ Aces beat the Connecticut Sun 3-1, clinching the franchise’s first-ever championship. This year, they followed it up with another on Wednesday night, defeating the New York Liberty. His side became the first team in 21 years to bag two titles in back-to-back seasons. Coincidentally, the last team to achieve the feat was Liberty in the early 2000s. On top of that, Hammon was part of that team.

After the post-match award ceremony, everyone gathered around Mark Davis to celebrate the win. He may be the owner and write A’ja Wilson and her teammates’ salaries, but on occasions like this, he deserves his cut too. Wearing his iconic all-white attire, the 68-year-old could be seen dancing in joy.

That’s great, but he has other matters to attend to as well. His NFL team, the Las Vegas Raiders, has only played in the playoffs twice since he took over from his father, Al Davis, more than a decade ago.

Mark Davis has yet to reach a conclusion regarding Tom Brady’s share of the Las Vegas Raiders

According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, the deal that Tom Brady struck with the Las Vegas Raiders has not been approved as of yet. Volin claimed the league finance committee feels that Mark Davis is providing Brady with a discount, judging by the amount.

To fuel the fire Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay confirmed that the former NFL quarterback’s deal is worth around 10%. “We’re trying to work it through,” Irsay told the Globe. “The number just has to be reasonable for Tom. [If] 10 percent should be $525 million, you can’t pay $175 million.”

As per Forbes‘ most valuable sports entity list, the Raiders are valued at around $6 billion. This is one of the primary reasons that some of the other owners are not keen on giving the green signal.

On top of that, the situation could turn awkward for Brady if the deal goes through. The seven-time Super Bowl winner is set to start his post-NFL career as a FOX analyst. Having a part-owner of a team broadcasting games is not exactly ideal.
