“Get rid of this dumba**” – Raiders fans DEMAND accountability from HC Josh McDaniels after he benched QB Derek Carr for the rest of the season
Derek Carr and Josh McDaniels
After announcing that the Raiders will be benching Derek Carr for the rest of the season, HC Josh McDaniels has addressed the weird QB situation at the Raiders. Due to his abysmal performances this season, the Raiders decided to move on with Carr and have benched him. Carr, who was with the team for 9 years, has even left the camp because realistically, the team won’t make it to the playoffs.
Following Carr’s termination, McDaniels said that the QB situation is weird at the Raiders and gave reasons why he decided it was best for the team to bench Carr. He said that Carr understands why the decision has been made and also understands how difficult it was for him to make the call. McDaniels also criticized the team’s passing game against the Steelers, which ended in a heartbreaking loss for the team from Las Vegas.
He said that a lot of things are to be sorted out and the team is just not good enough offensively. “That’s not good enough, you know what I mean? And for us to be able to win this time of the year and be productive offensively, you have to throw the ball better than what we’ve thrown it at times here over the last month-in-a-half. There’s a lot to be sorted through once the season is over,” McDaniels said.
Many people were unhappy with the decision to bench Carr. They believed that McDaniels is a bigger culprit when it comes to the Raiders’ performance this season. It is also said that Carr is just being used as a scapegoat.
NFL Twitter slams Josh McDaniels over Derek Carr’s snub
Fans, especially Raiders fans, were fuming over McDaniels’ comments. The HC isn’t taking any accountability and fans are demanding answers from him. They even want him to step aside from his job.
The Raiders are 6-9 for the season and currently hold the third spot in the highly competitive AFC West division. In the remaining two games of the regular season, they will face two in-form teams- the 49ers and the Chiefs. Former New England Patriots quarterback Jarrett Stidham will start QB for the Raiders in the next game against the 49ers.
