Back in April, the Baltimore Ravens made a shocking move as they signed the free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to a massive one-year deal worth up to $18 million. Recently, the talented wide receiver revealed that the Ravens managed to convince him out of retirement thoughts with that massive contract.

Speaking in an interview with The Athletic, Odell Beckham Jr. revealed that he was contemplating retiring from the sport after he won the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams in the 2021 season.

“It wasn’t like I felt I had to prove something to anybody else,” Beckham told The Athletic. “I know who I am. I know what I’m capable of. I’m secure with myself and my life. But it’s more about my people, for my son to be inspired. If he sees his dad work hard, maybe he will want to work hard at something and give it a go at whatever.”

Odell is returning to football after taking a year off to recover from the ACL injury he suffered during the Super Bowl game in 2022. He received multiple offers from several teams in free agency, but none were close to the whopping $18 million deal that the Ravens offered him.

Nonetheless, the former Pro Bowl pass catcher is considering retirement following the 2023 season, once his contract with the Baltimore-based football team expires.“I’m thinking like this is my last year,” Beckham said. “I’m going to give it my all this year. And then if something happens after that, we can go from there.”

The 30-year-old receiver was looking for multi-year deals but didn’t receive any. He will now look to play to his full potential in the 2023 season and help the Ravens to win a Super Bowl ring.

The 2-time Pro Bowl QB now has an arsenal of offensive weapons. The Ravens’ offensive unit which consists of OBJ, Zay Flowers, and Mark Andrews will be a nightmare matchup for any team in the league.

With the help of this strong offensive unit, the Ravens QB Lamar Jackson will look to get back to his 2019 form, when he became only the second quarterback in the league’s history to win a unanimous MVP award.
