NFL officiating hasn’t been up to standards during the 2023 season so far. There have been many poor calls in the season and the Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell is the latest victim of such call. On Sunday, the Texans went against their AFC South division rivals Jacksonville Jaguars in their week 12 matchup.

During the second quarter of the game, the Texans were trailing by 6 points and were facing a crucial 3rd down and 9 from the Jaguars’ 31-yard line. Houston’s quarterback C.J. Stroud, who took the snap from the shotgun position, was immediately met with pressure by the Jaguars’ defensive line.

Stroud escaped the pressure and scrambled to his right before completing a 30-yard pass to the wide receiver Tank Dell. However, the referees didn’t rule it a catch, as they believed Dell got out of bounds before completing the catch. But the reply showed Dell clearly dragging his both feet on the ground while completing the catch. Still, the refs are stuck with the incomplete catch call.

As a result of the incomplete pass, the Texans ended up facing a 4th down and decided to attempt a 50-yard goal to cut the lead. However, their kicker, Matt Ammendola, missed the 50-yard field goal, leaving the Texans with zero points on that drive.

Earlier in the game, C.J. Stroud’s ridiculous 68-yard completion to Tank Dell was also negated due to a pre-snap penalty. So, fans were convinced that the referees were working in favor of the Jacksonville-based football team. Eventually, the Texans lost the game 24-21.

In the game, Dell caught 5 passes for 50 yards and 1 touchdown. Houston’s star quarterback had a remarkable game as he threw for 304 yards and 2 touchdowns while rushing for 47 more yards and 1 more touchdown.
