The former American cornerback and present-day TV personality Richard Sherman has a warning for the Denver Broncos’ star quarterback Russell Wilson. The 35-year-old former athlete believes that the quarterback is not in good shape and his legacy is on the line.

From the sets of the popular TV show, ‘The Undisputed,’ the TV person said that he does not see any chance for Wilson to turn the tables for the Denver Broncos. Last season, the Broncos performed poorly. They finished with a 5-12 record and almost tied for their worst record of 4-12. Wilson also failed to create an impact on the field.

Both Sherman and Wilson were teammates for the Seattle Seahawks for five consecutive seasons, from 2012 to 2017. During their era of partnership, the Seahawks made it through to the five playoff rounds. They also ended up winning the Super Bowl in the 2013 season.

However, this former teammate is not hopeful enough that Wilston will completely change the fortune of the Broncos in this season. He believes that Wilson is already past his prime, and hence, he does not have the charisma to change things by his own abilities.

This is his legacy on the line at this point. This point because you gotta … separate the two times in his career, you want to separate two eras, you want to separate the time where he had the … Legion of Boom era. So we’ll call that the seven years from the ‘Russ cook’ era from 17 to 21, when he leaves Seattle,” he said.

Then you got this era in Denver, where he has a chance to cement his legacy in the biggest way. You’re in a tough division, Justin Herbert’s in that division, Mahomes, Super Bowl champions in that division, and you have to find a way to win,” he further added.

Due to the poor performance last season, the Broncos management fired their former coach, Nathaniel Hackett, and appointed Sean Payton this season. The team would like to rely on the coaching brilliance of Payton.

During the preseason, the team raised fans’ expectations with promising performances. In their final preseason match, they secured a dominant 41-0 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, even though Wilson was absent from the game. Surprisingly, despite the resounding win, the fans’ mood remained discontented, as they had not yet moved on from the disappointments of the previous year’s challenges.

To reverse their fortunes, Payton’s strategy hinges on harnessing Wilson’s exceptional skills. The quarterback’s return to his previous form is crucial for this transformation.

The Broncos will begin their NFL 2023 season on 10 September.
