The Denver Broncos had themselves a night on Saturday. They rolled over the Los Angeles Rams, embarrassing them in a 41-0 drubbing. Head coach Sean Payton was, understandably, very pleased by the performance. There were a lot of impressive performances, but one performance that took everyone’s breath away was that of TE Albert Okwuegbunam.
He went for 109 yards in 7 receptions and scored a touchdown as a TE. These are wide receiver numbers and he did that, as a TE. He averaged a mind-blowing 15.6 yards per reception. Coach Payton was overjoyed to watch his TE cause havoc on the field.
According to the Denverbroncos.com, while speaking to the media after the game, Payton said, “He had a big night, I mean, holy cow.” Broncos WR Brandon Johnson also praised his fellow Bronco and said, “A.O. went crazy. He went crazy. We see him do stuff like that all the time in practice, so it was good to just see him get out here and do it in a game and show everybody what he can do.”
The Broncos had lost both of their previous preseason games by just one point. This dominant win in their final preseason game against the 2021 Super Bowl champions will give them a lot of confidence going into the regular season. They will begin their season against the Las Vegas Raiders on September 10.

Okwuegbunam was drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He will be competing against the likes of Adam Trautman, Greg Dulcich, Chris Manhertz and Nate Adkins for the Broncos’ TE spot. Performance like this will surely help his case. The Broncos play the Las Vegas Raiders in week 1.
