The controversy surrounding Cam Newton’s ‘game manager’ on Brock Purdy is getting bigger and bigger. It has attracted so much reaction that Richard Sherman, the former player and the present-day analyst had to step into it. In one of his Twitter posts, the former player took a jibe at Newton.

The former player wrote:

I love Cam and have a ton of respect for him but come on. In your 2nd year in the NFL you wouldn’t have been the best player on this team but no one would have put you down because of it. Judge him like you would judge yourself because these categories would have excluded 2nd Year Cam too.

A few days back, Cam Newton claimed that Brock Purdy was not the game-changer, but only a game manager. He further noted that Purdy should not be counted as the best offensive player in the Niners. Now, nearly a day back, Newton spoke almost the same thing. In one of the episodes of the 4th and 1 Podcast Newton tweaked his opinion a bit but still stood by what he said.

Newton explained:

I've never said that Brock Purdy was trash. What I did say is Brock Purdy is a game manager. That's not hate. That's just what I feel to be facts. But I still reserve the right to say this: To be labeled a game changer, Brock Purdy has to be the best player on the offensive side of the ball, and that's not the case.

His unwillingness to change the opinion of Purdy triggered Sherman to take a stance against him.

Brock Purdy is now focused on the Super Bowl

Brock Purdy is not giving too much importance to what others are saying about him at this moment. Instead, he is focusing on the Super Bowl presently. The quarterback contributed largely to the success of his team by winning the NFC, which he failed to win last year. Now, in the Super Bowl, he has a chance to write his name for immortality.

Purdy has not provided his usual best in the postseason games. However, he exhibited the temperament a couple of times when the team was struggling.

The signal-caller is expected to end his drought in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Super Bowl is set to take place on the 11th of February, at the Allegiant Stadium.
