The American pop icon Rihanna just took the breath away from every fan with her performance during the halftime of the Super Bowl game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. During her performance, she flaunted her baby bump and later reportedly revealed that she was pregnant with her second child. This surprising news has taken social media by storm.
On May 2022, the pop singer Rihanna and rapper A$AP Rocky welcomed their first child and now, after almost seven months, the 9-time Grammy awards winner has revealed that she’s pregnant with her second child after her mesmerizing halftime performance. Rihanna started her performance with the classic “B**ch Better Have My Money” and continued with some of her best hits, including “Rude Boy”, “Work” and “Umbrella”.
To everyone’s surprise, Rihanna didn’t have any guests and performed solo. Before the Super Bowl, Rihanna had said that she would bring a special guest to the halftime show, so everyone expected big-name artists. But as it turns out, she was actually referring to the child she’s carrying, which she only revealed after her electric performance.
Rihanna adorned a graceful red Loewe jumpsuit and rocked the State Farm Stadium for 13 straight minutes. She agreed to perform at this Super Bowl partly because of her newborn son.“The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, so as scary as that was … there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all,” she said. “It’s important for my son to see that,” Rihanna further elaborated on her decision to perform at the big game.
Rihanna once turned down the offer to perform at Super Bowl
The Barbadian singer, who just delivered an electric performance at the Super Bowl halftime, once famously turned down the offer to perform at the big game after the league blackballed the former 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick for protesting against police brutality.
“I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains from that?” she said. “Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler. There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way,” said Rihanna in a Vogue interview.
However, after four years Rihanna seemingly changed her opinion about how the organization operates and rocked the 2023 Super Bowl halftime performance, and used the stage to reveal her pregnancy on Sunday.
